Mellowcroft is a natural holistic retreat set in beautiful scenery, with an abundance of natural plant and wildlife. Part of the majestic landscape of Wales, Mellowcroft sits beneath ancient Llandegley Rocks, in the rippling hills of Radnorshire, and is a truly beautiful place to be and get involved with.

People don’t come here to escape, but to awaken their potential, to sing, work and play; to remember skills, to practise arts, to breathe fresh air and to be themselves. They come here to respect the nature of the land, this ancient small-holding of 12 acres, with its woodland, meadows and freshwater spring, surrounded by thousands of acres of open Welsh moors and hills.

Recaptured from the local tradition of intensive sheep-farming, 4 years of more responsible grazing have seen the land experience a renaissance in bio-diversity. Mellowcroft's soil can breathe again, plant-life can diversify and blossom, and wildlife can quietly flourish. Conservation here is a visible living act of natural heritage, an expression of the land’s own best choices.

Visitors and helpers at Mellowcroft can participate in the evolution of this unique land, and themselves grow with it. We approach our various eco-projects with both ambitious creativity and attention to detail. The land here presents an opportunity to interact with the environment, to better understand our place on the planet, and to witness the positive long-term impact of small actions. Even if you only want to plant a seedling with your family, it is all good for the land, and welcome here.

Everything needed for core self-sufficiency is in place. We have fresh spring water, solar and wind energy, and various eco-builds for shelter. There are compost toilets, freshwater pools (one for swimming, and one for wildlife), a yurt, a drovers’ cabin, an eco-folly tree-house, and wireless broadband. There are also other canvas structures available for group events, as well as fine scope for wild-camping.

These facilities are easily affordable for everyone. Mellowcroft is a private space, available only by arrangement, but is open for token rates to all good workshops, gatherings, music and arts, for groups and individuals. It is not directed by financial motivations, and is no place for worrying about possessions, for locked doors or alarms. Such things are left well beyond the gate. It is a safe space, for family and friends, and it invites you to come and respect its nature

Mellowcroft a great place for people to gather, in a memorable and inspiring way, to learn from one another and to share energy. It’s nothing like a fashionable spa-retreat, or an expensive bush-craft centre. If you come here wanting a foot-massage, you’ll bring a book and a friend, and learn to do it yourself.

A natural holistic retreat, a truly beautiful place to get involved with, Mellowcroft looks forward to meeting you.
